IGENITY® offers analyses for Multiple Genetic Abnormalities and Conditions
IGENITY® has the beef industry's most comprehensive list of DNA analyses for seven genetic abnormalities plus the genetic conditions associated with myostatin.1 This list consists of both Neuropathic Hydrocephalus (NH) and Arthrogryposis Multiplex (AM) as well as Coat Color Dilution (DL), Idiopathic Epilepsy (IE), Osteopetrosis (OS), Pulmonary Hypoplasia Anasarca (PHA) and Tibial Hemimelia (TH).

What Sample Types do you accept?
Hair, semen, IGENITY tissue tags, 2 ml whole blood in an EDTA (purple top) plastic tube, and FTA cards for all of the genetic abnormalities except OS. OS requires 2 ml whole blood in plastic EDTA tubes or whole straws of semen.
How do I order sample collection kits?
For hair, FTA cards or IGENITY tissue tags visit your IGENITY sales representative, call 1-877-IGENITY or visit www.IGENITY.com. Talk to your veterinarian or animal health supplier to get EDTA blood tubes.
Can I get the IGENITY profile or parentage with a genetic abnormality?
Yes - just indicate which samples require the IGENITY profile on the IGENITY Order Form.
How long will results take?
Genetic abnormality results can take up to four weeks. Click on "Customer Login" and enter your password to see the status of your samples.
Can I test old samples?
Most samples submitted in the last six months can be re-tested for genetic abnormalities. Please include the barcode (which you can find on your previous results report or online at www.IGENITY.com) on any order form when requesting a new genetic abnormalities result. Order forms can be e-mailed to Igenity.suport@merial.com, faxed to 402-477-3946, or mailed.
Some samples may not have enough DNA to do additional testing. You will be contacted if this is the case for your samples, or you can call 1-877-IGENITY to find out if your samples have adequate DNA.
Will IGENITY send results to my Breed Association?
Yes, if you complete the Breed Association release form found here. Incomplete forms will be rejected by breed associations. Otherwise results are confidential and IGENITY will only return results to you.
Is IGENITY an authorized lab?
Yes! The American Angus Association, American Shorthorn Association, American Simmental Association, North American Limousin Foundation, American Gelbvieh Association, American Maine Anjou Association, Red Angus Association of America, American Chianina Association, American Salers Association as well as other breed associations all accept IGENITY results for genetic abnormalities and conditions.
